I went on an adventure at the beginning of summer with Teen Librarian, Misty! In order to get to NYC from Oklahoma by car, the road trip first took us through Missouri! It was rainy that first day we stopped in Springfield, but we got to see a cool car at the hotel! We stopped at the St. Louis Public Library, the next day, but the Great Hall was closed on Sundays! Then we saw the Gateway Arch (readers might recall this location from the Percy Jackson series!). After Missouri—and a bit of Illinois and across the state of Indiana—I got to catch up with some family at a Burger King in Columbus, OH, of all places!

We then drove through Pennsylvania to get to Jersey City, New Jersey for a hotel with a view of the NYC skyline! These were all taken from the room or the pier of the hotel!

Next to the hotel was a PATH train that takes you under the Hudson into Manhattan! We took a very steep escalator down to the subway, waited about 10 minutes, and then popped up at the World Trade Center station 5 minutes after boarding the train! I felt pretty secure in Misty's pocket!
We saw some really cool things while in NYC:

The busiest thing we saw was people lined up to take a picture with that bull! I also thought I found the perfect nest to live in, but turns out it was just the where Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was playing. Did you know the Ghostbusters' Firehouse is a working Fire Station? Guys, we didn't even see all of NYC! There is still so much left to do when we go back next year! We were overwhelmed with sights and sounds and all of the big city things we could do, so we didn't do anything but LOOK at all things, and these are just are SOME of the things we saw!
We still had to get to a wedding in upstate New York, which means we had to go back through Pennsylvania! I saw this sign for Scranton, and it made me want to rewatch the Office! In New York, the state, not the city, we hung out in a cabin near Lake Ontario and the Salmon River. Look at this cool waterfall that none of the young adults we were with jumped into since there were MANY No Swimming signs posted!

For some reason, I was not asked to be in the wedding, even though I would have been an excellent flower girl, but we did get to do a lot of dancing at the reception! Odd that there aren't many pictures of this... i'm not even IN this one! We also got to see a lot of people traveling by horse and buggy while here. I was told these people were from Amish settlements near Pulaski, NY!
On the way home, we stopped to rest and get a whole new tire in Indiana, after a total of 25ish hours of driving, we made it back to the Sooner State!
And that was my Summer Adventure to New York!
