UPDATE IN RED BELOW, YOU'LL SEE IT!
I'm going to let ya'll in on a little secret: I'm a HUGE Shakespeare nerd. MASSIVE. I was (as far as I'm aware) the only person at Cameron University to request taking it twice just for fun. And while I was taking this class twice, I got to do a deep dive, 25 page paper into what is now my FAVORITE work of Shakespeare's: Hamlet!
Like Princess Bride, it has everything: fencing, fighting, (mental) torture, (attempted) revenge, giants (literarily speaking), monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles (for a given definition of miracle)... okay, so that last one is debatable. But it certainly has all of the rest of you squint a bit.
So when Duncan Little Theatre asked us to partner with them for a night of Shakespeare themed trivia ahead of the Shakespeare in the Park Festival ( where they'll be performing Hamlet!) in Fuqua Park on April 11th and 12th, I jumped at the opportunity!
I and other library staff have been working on this for about a month. I'll suggest a trivia question, they'll accuse me of deep cuts that even other English majors don't catch, it's all great fun. But we're finally ready to present it to you all!
UPDATED INFORMATION: TRIVIA WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 12 AT 2 pm AT THE FUQUA PARK GAZEBO!
So this is my call to action: Bring your friends, family, partners, and yourself to the library AFTERHOURS (gasp!) to play some trivia with us on Friday, April 4th from 6 PM to 7:30 PM! (Regular library services and areas may not be available during this event). We're keeping the library open for trivia teams and utilizing the space in the middle of the library. The Friends of the Duncan Public Library will be providing wonderful prizes for the team of winners, and something special for the team with the funniest Shakespeare related team name!
So the question is whether or not to go to Shakespeare Trivia DAY, the question is: have you thought of your team name?
Have you thought of a funny Shakespeare Trivia Team Name yet?
Yes, and will put all other team names to shame!
No, I'm working on it, okay!? Don't rush me!
