It's here! It's here! This is our (mostly) complete Summer Reading calendar! When we tell you that we've been tweaking and adding to this all the way until about three seconds ago, it's not an exaggeration.

Here's a link to an UPDATING calendar, so if that if anything has to change you can see it right away: https://canva.link/6nzb9vw5dbfdrp9 . It also includes our Daycare Days information on pages 3 and 4!

So what can you look forward to this summer? Here are some of the big highlights:

  • Reading Challenge: It's right in the name, and we don't want to forget it! While you are having fun this summer we encourage you to read or listen to as many books as you can. For every hour that a child reads, they can get a guaranteed prize from our claw machine. Teens and Adults have similar reading challenges too! Turn in completed reading challenge sheets by the end of the day on Saturday, August 1st to be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing. (Don't forget our YA / Teen / Tween book clubs!)

  • Storytimes: Ms. Darbie does Baby/Toddler Time (10:30 AM) and Storytime (11:00 AM) almost every Thursday in the Children's Library and Ms. Sacha will have Hora Del Cuento (Spanish Storytime) once a month on the fourth Thursday at 4 PM. We will also have a special visit from the Will Rogers Museum at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 28th for a Will Rogers-themed Storytime! [Storytimes may sometimes be replaced by special performances or programs.]

  • Performances and Visitors: We've got several performances and visitors for all ages this year including the Dino Rodeo from Mad Science OKC on Thursday, June 4th at 11 AM, Painted Sky Opera House's The Pirates Project: an interactive kids opera on Thursday, June 18th at 2 PM, The Will Rogers Museum on Thursday, May 28th at 3 PM, and The Museum of Osteology (Skeletons) will have classes on Tuesday, July 14th.

  • Events from the Library: As always, we have TONS of our own big events like The Rubber Duck Fashion Show (sign up on June 5th) , The Chalk Art Contest (June 12th), True Crime Club (June 13th), Hamilton Trivia (June 26th), Stump the Librarian (July 9th) Tea Rex Party (July 17th), Colonial Kids Games (July 18th), Mothing at DPL (July 24th), and THREE BIG FOAM PARTIES (May 30th, August 1st, and one to be determined)!

  • Crafts & Activities: Each age group has a set day. Adults on Monday, Teens on Tuesday, Kids 6-11 on Wednesdays, and Kids under 6 on Thursday.

  • And more! We haven't even scratched the surface about what we've got planned for this summer.

*SIGN UPS OPEN THE BUSINESS DAY BEFORE THE EVENT UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE*

We hope that you come and have fun with us this summer.
