Today was the first Storytime back after our August break, and we set off to a Reading Rodeo! Cookie the Chuckwagon Cook from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City came all the way down to Duncan for their first Reading Rodeo of the year. How lucky are we?
Children listened to two stories, learned about the Cowboy Code and some western animals, and even got the chance to practice with a lasso and "barrel race" around some cones. The adults even got in on the fun!
All the kids got their own bandanas and learned about how cowboys used them to keep cool and keep the dirt and sweat off their faces. An amazing time was had by all!
We look forward Cookie coming back for another Reading Rodeo sometime soon! To join me for our regularly scheduled Baby/Toddler Times and Story Times, come to the library on Thursday mornings at 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM respectively.
