Banned Books Week began in the early 1980s as a response to a sudden surge in book challenges in an effort to push back against the harm that censorship can cause. Libraries and librarians are at the forefront of providing free and open access to information and books. The freedom to read the books that we want, in order to find the information we need, to feel seen within the pages of a story, or to take a journey through the life of another should be protected. Kristi's Corner: Summer Reading
I am a fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid, but I had put off reading Atmosphere because I just didn't think I would like it. I then read a review from someone about her book, Carrie DeSoto is Back. The reviewer said she also didn't want to read this because the subject, tennis, didn't interest her, but then she finally read it and loved the book. This is the same way I feel about Atmosphere. While I didn't think I'd be interested in the subject, I ended up loving this book. Joan Goo
