National Moth Week will be July 19th to July 27th, and the library is getting in on the fun! Visit the library that week for a themed storytime, adult craft, and a special "mothing" event behind the library. But first, let's cover some basics:

What is National Moth Week: "National Moth Week is an annual, national event that encourages communities to host a Mothing event in their area during a specific week. Moth Week offers everyone, everywhere the opportunity to become a Citizen Scientist by submitting photos of moths to any of our participating partners for identification and data submission." - NationalMothWeek.org

What is Mothing: Mothing uses light or bait to attract moths to a location for observation and data collection by nature enthusiasts and citizen scientists. You might shine a bright light onto a surface or create moth bait using fruit and sugar. Either way, taking pictures to document the BEAUTIFUL moths that have come your way.

Where will the library be mothing? Join the library ~at night~ behind the library's annex building at 9:30 PM on Friday, July 11th to attract some moths. We know it's late! But won't it be so cool?

Will Mothman be attending? Look. Who's to say? If he somehow makes his way from West Virginia then anything is possible. We'd love to have him join the Moth Week Fun!
