It's almost time for the library's annual summer chalk art contest! This year, the contest will be held on Friday, June 13th at 10:00 AM on the the sidewalks around the library. Color Our World is going to be such an AMAZING theme that gives a lot of creative freedom to explore this artsy theme.

Some Things to Know before the contest:

  • You sign up at the event. We start at 10 on the dot, so try to sign up around 9:45.

  • Contestants are divided into age groups: under 5, 6 - 11, 12 - 18, and family groups. If adults are helping the kids (at any age group) then you should sign up under the family category.

  • The library will provide chalk, but you are welcome to provide your own tools. Just make sure that you keep track of your things.

  • There will be bottled water provided during the contest.

  • You will have between 10 AM and 11 AM to draw your entire piece. Contestants will return inside for refreshments while the judging commences!

  • Judges will score on a 1-5 scale for each piece and then library staff will do the math to figure out the top 3 winners in each category. Judges will NOT be library staff.

  • It's usually pretty hot during the Chalk Art Contest! Dress to stay cool, wear your sunscreen, and drink LOTS of water.

So it goes
