We're excited to be creating another community art project this year, this time in the form of a community crochet blanket! (or even better, more than one!)
Anyone that would like to can contribute to the blanket(s) by crocheting a 6 inch by 6 inch granny square! (For me, this tends to be a 5 round granny square in worsted weight yarn, but that's just me! Be sure to check your gauge!)
You can drop your squares off at the library and staff/crocheting teen volunteers will join the squares and put a border on the blanket. It's our goal to get at least one large blanket completed, but if we have enough squares we'd love to do more than one!
The blanket will be raffled off at the Art Share on Friday, August 1st to benefit the Friends of the Duncan Public Library to support all of their WONDERFUL endeavors (like our new kitchen/board room!).
Because the completed item will be raffled off, we ask that you make your squares in a smoke and pet free environment. We'll be hosting Community Crochet Days at the library on some Saturdays this summer, and you can always join in on our Stitch This fiber arts group ever Tuesday at 1 PM to learn more about crochet and other fiber arts!
If you have any questions about this community project, you can reach Jessica at dploutreach@duncanok.gov!
Oy, with the Poodles already!
