Intermediate List: Accidental Demons by Clare Edge
Do you ever think to yourself that you'd like a book about witches but also about real-life topics like managing diabetes, perhaps? Well, we have a book for that! Accidental Demons by Clare Edge has been selected for the 2026 Intermediate Sequoyah masterlist. It is a fun and funny read about the seriousness of managing diabetes by someone who has the power to summon demons through blood, so accidental demons—as the title suggests—do happen! You can watch the Oklahoma Library Association's video below to hear why it was chosen to be on the Sequoyah list!

High School List: Black Girl You Are Atlas by Renée Watson
A powerful book of poetry that calls us into action to recognize our self-worth. With strong themes of happiness, love, femininity, and community, this book isn't actually just for black girls but for all. It calls on all women to support each other. Having books that reflect those who look like us no matter who we are brings needed depth to any reading list. For those who may not see themselves reflected, any opportunity to read from another person's perspective can help us exercise our empathy and be understanding of how those we share our community, country, and world with experience life.
